Latham’s Farmstand

Latham’s Farmstand is one of the classic farm stops on the North Fork. The Latham family has been farming in Orient for generations, and the stand still has the simple, old-school feeling that makes the far east end of the North Fork special.

Why people go

The produce is the reason to stop, especially when tomatoes are in season. Latham’s is known for excellent heirloom tomatoes, and that alone can make it worth pulling over.

What to expect

Expect a seasonal farm stand with produce, flowers, and local items. Some days are about tomatoes. Other days are about corn, berries, greens, herbs, potatoes, onions, or whatever is coming in fresh.

Best for

  • heirloom tomatoes
  • local produce
  • flowers
  • beach-house cooking
  • simple farm-stand stops
  • Orient and East Marion drives
  • visitors who like older North Fork places

How to work it into a North Fork day

Latham’s works well as part of an Orient or East Marion day. Stop on the way to or from Orient Beach State Park, the Cross Sound Ferry, Lavender by the Bay, or Orient village.

NoFo Times note

Latham’s is one of our favorite farm stands because it feels like an older version of the North Fork in the best way. It is simple, seasonal, and real. The heirloom tomatoes are the thing we always look for. When they are good, they are really good — the kind of tomatoes that can carry a whole meal with almost nothing else.
