Greenport Hotels and Inns

The best Greenport-area stays for a walkable village weekend or a beachside stay near town.

Home > Greenport Hotels and Inns

For a lot of people, that is the whole point. A Greenport stay means you can walk to coffee, dinner, drinks, the harbor, and the ferry without turning the weekend into a driving plan. It is also the easiest way to make a first visit feel simple. At this point, Greenport has a real mix of options: boutique village hotels, waterfront inns, beachside properties, and a few smaller places that work well if you want something more personal.

Village stays

The Menhaden

One of the nicest options if you want a polished boutique hotel right in town. The rooftop is a big part of the draw, with harbor, Shelter Island, and North Ferry views, but the bigger advantage is that once the car is parked, you are exactly where you want to be for the rest of the weekend.

Harbor Front Inn

Harbor Front Inn is one of the most literal in-the-middle-of-everything options in Greenport. It sits right on the waterfront in the village, with water views, an outdoor pool, complimentary breakfast, and easy walking access to restaurants, shops, and the ferry. It is a good fit if convenience matters as much as charm.

American Beech

American Beech is better if your weekend is meant to lean into dinner, drinks, and village energy. The hotel is woven into Stirling Square, with rooms spread around the square and direct proximity to American Beech itself, Brix & Rye, 1943 Pizza Bar, and Black Llama. It is one of the more social places to stay in town.

The Greenporter Hotel

The Greenporter belongs in the mix too. It is not as glossy as The Menhaden or as nightlife-centered as American Beech, but it gives you a quieter boutique-hotel option that is still walkable to the village, the docks, and the train. It is especially worth knowing if you want Greenport access without needing to be directly in the thick of Main Street all weekend.

The Stirling House Bed & Breakfast

If you want something smaller and more personal, The Stirling House is worth adding. It is a waterfront bed and breakfast in Greenport’s historic district, built in 1880, with harbor views, a wraparound porch, and a much more intimate feel than the larger hotel options.

Beach and Sound-side stays near Greenport

Sound View

Sound View is best if you want water-facing rooms, private beach access, and a stay that feels distinctly coastal rather than simply downtown. The Halyard, the piano bar, yoga, the pool, and the overall layout make it feel like more of a full property experience than a simple place to sleep near town.

Silver Sands

Silver Sands is a very good choice if your ideal North Fork weekend means salt air, beach access, and a relaxed but still designed feel. The private beach, spa, and multiple dining options make it one of the better properties if the stay itself is a big part of the trip, not just the location.

Hotel Moraine

Hotel Moraine should be in this group as well. It sits on a bluff overlooking the Long Island Sound and has more of a family-friendly resort feel than the in-town Greenport hotels. The private beach, heated pool, kid-friendly touches, and bigger-property layout make it a good choice if you want water, space, and a quieter base while still staying close to Greenport.

Nearby alternatives worth knowing

If Greenport proper is full, East Marion is usually the easiest backup because it still keeps you close to the village while giving you a quieter base. Southold is another good pivot if you want a little less bustle and more room around the edges of the weekend. Those nearby options make it a lot easier to stay flexible, especially in summer or on wedding weekends when village inventory tightens up.
